Sign & Product Maintenance
As part of your workplace health and safety inspections, your signs and safety products should also be inspected, maintained and cleaned on a regular basis to ensure they are relevant and visible. Signs and products (including associated posts, brackets, fixings, nuts & bolts/screws etc) should be kept in good, clean, “safe working” condition at all times.
The information on your signs should also be checked regularly to determine if they are current and relevant, action should be taken to rectify any changes required when your signs are no longer current or relevant.
Your signs and products should also be checked regularly to determine they are positioned in well suited, appropriate locations, especially if your premises will have or have had any changes made to them. Action should also be taken to eliminate any obstructions that may reduce the visibility of your signs or products.
Any signs or products that may be damaged, faded, vandalised, missing or broken etc, must be actioned immediately so that they can be repaired or replaced.
Workwear and safety apparel may be considered as PPE (personal protective equipment) and therefore should also be inspected, maintained and cleaned on a regular basis. Action should be taken to repair or replace any permanently stained, faded or damaged workwear. Workwear should be maintained and cleaned as per the wash instructions on the tag. Workwear should only be worn and used for the purpose it has been specifically designed for.
