Brackets for Street Name Signs
Street Name Sign Brackets two half circle aluminium components that enclose around the sign and post. Nuts and bolts are tightened together through the sign to create a strong “clamp” grip around the post. The circular design allows the sign to be spun 360 degrees around the post to the required direction. Once the bolts are tightened around the bracket, a strong grip is created. These brackets suit our custom street name signs.
Tips for installing Street Name Signs
When it comes to navigation, street name signs are essential. Whether you’re a sign installer, council worker or a contractor taking on a signage installation project, it’s important to get the installation right. Not only does this ensure signs stay put and work effectively, it contributes to public safety and a well organised space. Here’s a few tips to consider before getting started:
- Seek approval for sign installation beforehand. To obtain permission, you need to contact the land owner, the local council or road authority.
- If installing a sign post below ground, use a specialist company to carry out sub-surface checks before digging. Buried services may be present; Eg Pipes, cables, electrical, gas, data etc.
- Use the correct brackets for the type of sign you are installing. Street name signs have different extrusion profiles and so do the mounting brackets. Contact us for information on our different types of signage brackets.
- Choose a highly visible and suitable location to install your street name signs. Avoid potential obstructions; trees, telegraph poles, bus shelters or parked cars.
- Install your signs at the correct height. Councils have regulations for the minimum signage height for safety and consistency. Signs installed too low pose a safety risk, always follow your local council guidelines.
- Install your signs well clear from traffic lanes. Councils have standards for sign installation distances. Signs installed near traffic lanes cause a safety risk and hazard to passing vehicles, always follow the correct distances.
- If you are unsure, contact your local council or road authority for advice and technical guidelines on sign installations in your proposed area.
- Regularly check and maintain your street name signs. Check for structural integrity and bracket tightness, damage or vandalism etc. Take appropriate steps for maintenance. Safety first, always!
